Backstage With Jen
You’ve been working (and walking) with Myer for over a decade now (wow)! Have you got any pre-show nerves, or is it just excitement at this point?
I've definitely got pre-show nerves - there's so much adrenalin in my body! I know everyone thinks "oh, you've been doing this for ages now", but really, Myer only have two new season launches per year. I do two parades a year -really not that often! I'm not jaded, it always feels fresh each time.
Any pre or post-show rituals we should know about?
I’ve got some good luck charms I'm carrying, and I'm definitely heading out to dinner [after the show] and going to eat whatever I want [laughs].
Do you ever feel pressure to change your eating habits or exercise regime? In the lead up to this show, what have you done to prepare?
I love to run, so I've been amping up my running and I've added two personal training pilates sessions per week. I do my own squats and abs workouts at home, too. To be honest, it's not to lose weight. It's so I can feel healthy, and mostly for the energy. Today started at 5:30am and will go well into the night - the energy is necessary!
Any brands you’re particularly excited for people to see this season?
Aje has done denim so well this season, with their light washes and distressed hemlines. I'm loving them and Sass & Bide and Steele. I also get to wear Alex Perry and Maticevski in the show - they're always favourites.
What trends are you most excited to wear in the coming months?
Denim with chunky knits, military jackets and wool coats. I also love a pop of bold bright colour and anything sport luxe.
